Mack Defense takes great pride in shining a spotlight on Julieann Hoskins as an exceptional veteran, wholeheartedly acknowledging and celebrating her unwavering commitment to duty, as well as the distinctive skills and valuable experience she brings to the team.

In 1989, Julieann Hoskins embarked on a transformative journey with the U.S. Army Reserve, a decision influenced by a family history of military service in the Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy. Drawn to the structure, discipline, and lifestyle, she envisioned making the military her career.

During Julieann’s military training, she learned hand-to-hand combat and underwent extensive weapons training, earning the nickname “Hawk Eye.” A standout moment unfolded when she faced the challenge of throwing a grenade over a wall that had rebounded from another comrade’s errant throw. While it was a nerve-wracking task, the experience proved enlightening, teaching her the invaluable skill of maintaining composure in chaotic situations.

The military also instilled in her a deep understanding of people and effective teamwork, particularly through trust-building exercises like trust falls and rappelling down a 50-ft wall. Leadership and teamwork were not just concepts but lifelines, as the solidarity of her unit determined her very existence.

Stationed at Tobyhanna in the Poconos, PA, Julieann served in the Signal Corps, where she was involved in radio control and coding, managing truck driving responsibilities, and overseeing a radio trailer. Her training brought both challenges and profound rewards, teaching her to master a hot temper and develop resilience in challenging situations.
Her military journey also included active duty during the First Gulf War Desert Storm. However, a significant challenge arose while in her third year, an injury during training initially led to a medical discharge. The orders were rescinded, reshaping the course of her military journey.

Julieann’s military service has proven exceptionally valuable in her current life and career. One of the key benefits is her enhanced ability to understand people better and navigate diverse personalities and backgrounds. Lessons learned in the military, such as staying calm and being aware of surroundings, are applied daily. The coding skills she acquired during her service continue to be a valuable asset in her present life.

The importance of community and camaraderie in the military remains vivid, as she values the deep trust forged with fellow service members. Maintaining connections with veterans through social media, attending events, and volunteering for initiatives like “Wreaths Across America” illustrate her commitment to the veteran community.

In Julieann’s story, the military isn’t just a part of her past; it’s an ongoing influence shaping her personal growth, community involvement, and the lasting lessons that persist well beyond her time in uniform.
